Sponsor a Child

 Sponsor a Child - Aparna's Story

NAME:                          Aparna Bobbili
DATE OF BIRTH:        November 6th, 1998
SEX / RELIGION:         Female - Hindu
PLACE OF BIRTH:       Vijayawada, India
FAMILY:                       Mother died, Father alive
LANGUAGE/GRADE:  Lower Kinder Garten (English Medium)

Aparna is the only surviving daughter of her parents. Aparna's mother died while giving birth to her second child. Because of the financial constraints she could not be taken to the hospital at proper time and later she died due to lack of proper medical attention. The new born baby also died immediately. Her father left the home leaving behind Aparna. She became an orphan as there was nobody to take care of her. Aparna has an aunt who was barren for some years after her marriage. She took the burden of supporting Aparna with basic needs. Later the woman gave birth to a baby girl and is now carrying again. Her husband complained that if another girl was born then that would be burdensome for him to raise all the three girl children.   In India, girl children are looked down because of the dowry system whereby the parents of the bride have to pay a huge sum for the groom in order to get them married. Aparna's uncle is a manual rickshaw puller and his income is also insufficient to feed all the four mouths. Aparna's grand parents have two more unmarried daughters and they are in a helpless situation. Later the woman heard about Maranatha Children Home and approached us to take Aparna into the home and she was granted admission.

Aparna is now attending school along with the other children.  She very readily became acquainted and adjusted to life in the home.  She is happy and grateful to have good shelter, three meals a day, clothing and medical help.  She enjoys learning Bible stories and singing songs during Sunday school services.  Your sponsorship will allow her to grow up in an environment that is conducive to her physical, mental and spiritual growth.   The discipline and moral values that are taught in this home are very important to the children's welfare.  We appreciate your partnership with us in this venture to help the poor and needy children.
